I’m Dr Terri, a qualified veterinarian with a lifelong passion for animal care. My journey began on a 50-acre hobby farm in the beautiful Sunshine Coast hinterland. I grew up surrounded by all sorts of animals - from guinea pigs and quails to cows, pigs, and sheep. While I didn’t provide direct care (I was just a kid) for the larger farm animals, having them in my life helped shape my understanding of animal behaviour and welfare. I also enjoyed helping rehabilitate local wildlife, including tawny frogmouths and wallabies.
After attending Noosa District State High School - right here in the region I now proudly call home again. I followed my passion to study Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland, graduating in 2004. My career began in Yorkshire, UK, where I gained experience across a wide range of small animal cases and enjoyed travelling through Europe to broaden my perspective on veterinary care.
On my way home to Australia, I participated in a research project in Southern Africa, working with elephants and observing herd dynamics as part of a contraception trial. An unforgettable adventure that deepened my appreciation for animal welfare globally.
Back in Australia, I worked in veterinary clinics across Western Australia and other regions before settling in Brisbane. In Slacks Creek, I managed a small animal clinic for six years, gaining invaluable experience in hands-on veterinary care, clinic management, and building trusted relationships with pet owners.
In 2020, I launched Dr Terri’s Home Vet Visits because I wanted to create a more personalised, less stressful veterinary experience for pets and their people. Many pets, especially cats become anxious during car travel and clinic visits. Offering care in their own environment allows for a calmer, more compassionate approach.
Over time, I’ve developed a special interest in supporting senior pets and their senior owners. I understand that older animals often face unique health challenges, and many older clients find travel difficult. I take the time to listen, explain, and offer gentle, patient care without rushing.
My approach to veterinary care is built on the belief that every animal deserves compassion and respect. I aim to make each visit clear and collaborative - taking the time to understand your concerns and make decisions together in your pet’s best interest. I want every client to feel heard and confident in the care their pets receive.
Outside of work, I love gardening, woodworking, and renovating my home - creative outlets that help me recharge. I live on the Sunshine Coast with 2 dogs and 2 cats. They remind me every day of the joy, humour, and companionship that animals bring into our lives.
